Jack Mallers is the founder and CEO of Strike, a payments platform built on Bitcoin and the Lightning Network. He is also co-founder and CEO of Twenty One, a Bitcoin-native company.
Strike
Strike enables instant, low-cost global payments using the Bitcoin Lightning Network. The app allows users to send and receive money, buy Bitcoin, and pay Lightning invoices. Mallers built Strike on top of the Lightning Network to demonstrate Bitcoin’s potential as a payments layer, not just a store of value.
El Salvador
Mallers played a key role in El Salvador’s adoption of Bitcoin as legal tender in 2021. He worked directly with President Nayib Bukele’s government to develop the Chivo wallet and the infrastructure needed for the country’s Bitcoin rollout, which he announced on stage at the Bitcoin 2021 conference.
Background
Mallers grew up in Chicago with a family background in finance — his father and grandfather both ran the Chicago Board of Trade. He dropped out of college to focus on Bitcoin development, initially building Zap, an early Lightning Network wallet, before founding Strike.
