What Is DeXe?

DeXe (ticker DEXE) is the governance token of DeXe Protocol, an open-source infrastructure suite for creating and running decentralized autonomous organizations. The project launched in 2020 as a decentralized social-trading platform that let users mirror successful traders' on-chain activity, then pivoted over several years into DAO tooling. Its rebuilt protocol went live on BNB Chain in November 2023 alongside DAO Studio, its no-code interface for launching and governing DAOs.

DeXe Protocol today is a library of more than 50 smart contracts covering the mechanics of DAO life: on-chain and off-chain voting with linear, meritocratic, or custom models, delegation with rewards, treasury management, expert councils, token launchpads with airdrops, NFT-based membership, and meta-governance with sub-DAOs. The project is governed by the Swiss-registered DeXe Association, and its recent positioning has leaned toward governance for AI agents, with a 2025 partnership with iExec exploring decentralized AI in DAO operations such as treasury automation and proposal analysis.

DeXe was co-founded by Ukrainian entrepreneur Dmytro Kotliarov, though the wider team keeps a low profile. The DEXE token launched through a three-week auction sale in September and October 2020 that sold about 1.5 million tokens; unsold tokens from the sale allocation were burned, leaving a fixed total supply of 96,504,599 DEXE. The token exists as an ERC-20 on Ethereum and a BEP-20 on BNB Chain. DEXE governs the DeXe DAO, including treasury allocation, fee structures, and protocol upgrades, with staking tiers from one to 24 months and treasury buybacks and burns. Note that circulating supply figures differ by aggregator, since a large share of supply sits in the DAO treasury; CoinGecko counts roughly 47 million DEXE circulating while CoinMarketCap counts about 84 million.

That treasury concentration is DEXE's main risk factor. Analysts have noted that the vast majority of supply sits in a handful of addresses, largely treasury and DAO contracts, which shrinks the free float and can amplify price moves. DEXE has seen several sharp, liquidity-driven moves with no clear catalyst: it fell roughly 30 percent in half an hour during a suspected trading-bot glitch on Binance in April 2025, and during the market-wide flash crash of October 10, 2025, it briefly wicked down more than 90 percent on thin books before recovering. The protocol itself has had no major exploits to date, with audits from Hacken, CertiK, and Cyfrin and an active bug bounty.

DEXE's price performance has been striking: the token rallied roughly 750 percent in the first half of 2026 and set a new all-time high above $36 in July 2026, finally surpassing its 2021 cycle high, with Binance as its dominant trading venue. DAO Studio reports dozens of active DAOs managing a combined treasury in the billions of dollars.

Getting Started With DeXe

DEXE is a standard EVM token, and the DAO Studio app is the main way to use the protocol:

  1. Step 1: Set up an EVM wallet such as MetaMask or Trust Wallet.
  2. Step 2: Acquire DEXE on an exchange and withdraw it to your wallet on Ethereum or BNB Chain.
  3. Step 3: Explore DAO Studio to create a DAO or participate in existing ones.
  4. Step 4: Stake DEXE or delegate votes to earn rewards and take part in DeXe DAO governance.

How to Get a DeXe Wallet?

Any Ethereum-compatible wallet can hold DEXE on both of its chains.

MetaMask

MetaMask holds DEXE on Ethereum and BNB Chain and connects to the DAO Studio app for governance participation.

Trust Wallet

Trust Wallet supports DEXE on mobile across both chains.

Hardware Wallets

Ledger and Trezor devices paired with MetaMask keep DEXE in cold storage, recommended for larger holdings.

How to Buy DeXe?

DEXE trades on major centralized exchanges and EVM DEXes.

Centralized Exchanges

Binance is DEXE's dominant venue by volume, with listings also on HTX, Gate, Bithumb (KRW pairs), MEXC, and WhiteBIT. Binance also runs a DEXE perpetual futures contract.

Decentralized Exchanges

DEXE trades on PancakeSwap on BNB Chain and Ethereum, with smaller pools on Uniswap. Fund an EVM wallet, connect, and swap into DEXE.

Latest DeXe News

DEXE has been one of 2026's stronger performers, rallying roughly 750 percent year-to-date and setting a new all-time high above $36 on July 10, 2026, after a breakout and short squeeze. On-chain activity also hit records in mid-2026, with all-time highs in daily whale transactions and active addresses. The rally has revived attention on the token's small free float, since most supply sits under the DAO treasury's control.

On the product side, DeXe has continued shipping DAO Studio features and pushing its AI-governance narrative, including work with iExec on integrating decentralized AI into DAO operations. The project's documentation and Medium blog are the best sources for protocol updates and treasury reports.
