What Is Enjin Coin?
Enjin Coin (ticker ENJ) is the native cryptocurrency of the Enjin ecosystem, a platform built specifically for creating and managing non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and digital gaming assets. Enjin's long-standing idea is that NFTs should have real, redeemable value: items minted through Enjin are backed by ENJ locked into them, so the digital asset always has an underlying floor value in the token.

Enjin was founded in 2009 by Maxim Blagov and Witek Radomski, originally as a platform for building gaming communities and websites, and is based in Singapore. The team moved into blockchain in 2017, raising funds in an ICO to build Enjin Coin. Witek Radomski, Enjin's CTO, was a co-author of the ERC-1155 token standard, a widely used Ethereum standard that allows a single contract to manage both fungible and non-fungible tokens, which became foundational for blockchain gaming.
For years, Enjin operated on Ethereum, where developers could "mint" NFTs by infusing them with ENJ and later "melt" those items to reclaim the locked ENJ. The platform offered tools such as wallets, an SDK, and APIs to make it easy for games and apps to integrate NFTs. The token-backing model gave Enjin NFTs an intrinsic value distinct from purely speculative collectibles.
Enjin later set out to build dedicated blockchain infrastructure for NFTs. After developing Efinity, a parachain in the Polkadot ecosystem, the team consolidated everything into a single network: the Enjin Blockchain, built using the Substrate framework. This network bakes NFT functionality directly into the protocol rather than relying on smart contracts, which is designed to make creating and managing tokens simpler, cheaper, and safer.
The Enjin Blockchain introduced features such as Fuel Tanks, which let developers sponsor their users' transaction fees, and Discrete Accounts, which let people interact with blockchain projects without first installing specialized wallet software. These are aimed at removing friction for mainstream users and game studios.
As part of this transition, which began rolling out in 2023, ENJ migrated from being an ERC-20 token on Ethereum to the native token of the Enjin Blockchain on a one-to-one basis, and the separate Efinity token (EFI) was consolidated into ENJ at a rate of 4 EFI to 1 ENJ. ENJ now pays for transactions, backs NFTs, and supports staking and governance on Enjin's own chain.
Getting Started With Enjin Coin
Getting started with Enjin Coin usually means setting up the Enjin Wallet and acquiring ENJ:
- Step 1: Install the Enjin Wallet, which supports the Enjin Blockchain and its NFTs.
- Step 2: Acquire ENJ on an exchange and withdraw it to your wallet.
- Step 3: Explore games, apps, and the Enjin marketplace that use ENJ-backed NFTs.
- Step 4: Hold ENJ on the Enjin Blockchain to pay fees, back NFTs, or participate in staking.
How to Get an Enjin Coin Wallet?
Because ENJ is now native to the Enjin Blockchain, the official Enjin Wallet is the most direct way to hold and use it.
Enjin Wallet
The Enjin Wallet is the official mobile wallet for the Enjin ecosystem, designed to hold ENJ and Enjin Blockchain NFTs and to interact with games and apps built on the network.
Exchange and Custodial Options
Many users first hold ENJ on an exchange. For self-custody and to use ENJ on the Enjin Blockchain, transfer it to the Enjin Wallet or another wallet that supports the network.
Hardware Wallets
For larger holdings, keeping keys offline with a hardware wallet is recommended where supported; always confirm compatibility with the Enjin Blockchain before transferring significant amounts.

How to Buy Enjin Coin?
ENJ can be bought on both centralized and decentralized exchanges.
Centralized Exchanges
ENJ is widely listed on exchanges including Binance, Coinbase, Kraken, Bybit, and Gate, typically traded against USD or USDT. Some exchanges support ENJ on the Enjin Blockchain directly, while others may still list bridged versions.
Decentralized Exchanges
ENJ can be acquired on decentralized exchanges as well. Because ENJ has moved to the Enjin Blockchain, confirm which network a given platform supports before withdrawing, and use the Enjin Wallet to hold the native token.
Latest Enjin Coin News
Enjin's recent story is defined by the migration to its own blockchain. Completing the move from Ethereum and consolidating the Efinity token into ENJ unified the ecosystem around a single network and token, and the team has continued to add features aimed at developers and mainstream users, such as fee sponsorship and simplified onboarding.
ENJ remains central to backing NFTs and powering activity across Enjin's games, apps, and marketplace. Because supported exchanges, network features, and tokenomics change over time, the official website, documentation, and Enjin's blog are the best sources for the current state of the project.
