What Is Kite?

Kite (ticker KITE) is an EVM-compatible Layer 1 blockchain built to be a payments layer for the "agentic economy," the emerging world of autonomous AI agents that transact on people's behalf. It gives agents verifiable identity, programmable spending controls, and native stablecoin settlement for fast, low-cost machine-to-machine payments. KITE is its native token. Note that this project, sometimes branded Kite AI, is distinct from other unrelated products named "Kite."

Kite positions itself as a blockchain purpose-built for AI agents. The platform is organized in layers: Kite Chain is a high-throughput Layer 1 with fast finality and native stablecoin settlement; the Kite Agent Passport is a programmable wallet and identity system that lets an agent transact with its own identity, a funded wallet, and user-set spending rules; and an interface layer handles service discovery and workflow execution. Kite is described as one of the first Layer 1 networks to implement payment primitives compatible with the x402 agentic-payment standard, letting agents exchange standardized payment intents with very low latency.

Kite's consensus is described as "Proof of Attributed Intelligence," a staking-secured mechanism that also rewards data providers, model developers, and agent operators for the verifiable value they contribute. The full technical details of this attribution model are not entirely public, but in practice the network is a proof-of-stake style Layer 1 with an attribution-reward layer on top.

The project was co-founded in 2023 by Chi Zhang, its chief executive, who holds a PhD in AI from UC Berkeley and previously worked at Databricks, and Scott Shi, its chief technology officer, who previously worked on real-time AI infrastructure at Uber. Kite has raised around 33 million dollars, including an 18 million dollar Series A in September 2025 co-led by PayPal Ventures and General Catalyst, with later participation from Coinbase Ventures and other investors.

KITE is the network's native asset. It is used for ecosystem access, staking to help secure the network, gas, and governance. Builders and AI service providers hold KITE to integrate, and module owners lock KITE to activate their services, tying the token's use to activity on the network. KITE has a capped maximum supply of 10 billion tokens, with the largest share allocated to ecosystem and community, followed by service-provider modules, the team, and investors, with multi-year vesting for team and investor allocations. During its bootstrap phase the traded token is deployed as an ERC-20 across Ethereum, BNB Chain, and Avalanche while the Kite Chain Layer 1 takes over as the native asset.

Getting Started With Kite

KITE is currently traded as an EVM token, so getting started uses an EVM wallet:

  1. Step 1: Set up an EVM wallet such as MetaMask or Rabby.
  2. Step 2: Acquire KITE on a supported exchange and withdraw it to your wallet on a supported network.
  3. Step 3: Explore Kite applications and the Agent Passport as the network's ecosystem develops.
  4. Step 4: Consider staking KITE to help secure the network where supported.

How to Get a Kite Wallet?

KITE is an EVM token, so any Ethereum-compatible wallet will work.

MetaMask

MetaMask is a widely used EVM wallet that can hold KITE on its supported networks and connect to Kite applications.

Rabby

Rabby is a DeFi-focused wallet with multi-chain support and helpful transaction previews, well suited to holding KITE and interacting with EVM applications.

Hardware Wallets

A Ledger device can be paired with MetaMask or Rabby to keep KITE offline, which is recommended for larger holdings.

Latest Kite News

Kite's KITE token launched on November 3, 2025, alongside a Binance listing and Launchpool campaign, following its September 2025 Series A led by PayPal Ventures and General Catalyst and an October 2025 investment from Coinbase Ventures tied to agentic payments. The project has continued to build out its Layer 1, Agent Passport identity system, and integrations aimed at the AI agent economy.

Because Kite is a young and fast-moving project, the official website, documentation, and X account are the best sources for verifying mainnet status, the token's transition to a native Layer 1 asset, and its partnerships.
