What Is SOON?

SOON (ticker SOON) is a Layer 2 rollup that runs the Solana Virtual Machine (SVM) as its execution layer while settling to Ethereum. The name is commonly read as "Solana Optimistic Network," reflecting its optimistic-rollup design. The idea is to pair the parallel-processing performance of the SVM, the engine behind Solana, with the security and settlement of Ethereum. SOON is its native token.

SOON's central technical idea is a "decoupled SVM." Rather than running a full Solana validator, SOON separates the SVM execution engine from the validator code, an approach enabled by Anza's SVM API. That decoupling lets SOON use the SVM as a standalone execution layer inside a rollup that posts its data and settles disputes on a separate base chain. The core stack is built on OP Stack tooling, and the project's public repositories point toward both optimistic and zero-knowledge proving paths for securing the rollup.

The project describes three parts. SOON Mainnet is a general-purpose Layer 2 that settles on Ethereum. The SOON Stack is a modular framework for deploying SVM Layer 2s on other base chains, which the team calls rollup infrastructure for the broader SVM ecosystem. InterSOON is a cross-chain messaging layer built on Hyperlane to connect SOON networks with each other and with other chains. Beyond the Ethereum-settled mainnet, the team has also launched SVM rollups on other ecosystems, including soonBase on Base and svmBNB on the BNB Smart Chain.

For data availability, SOON uses a modular approach. Its documentation describes support for configuring among multiple data availability providers, including Celestia, EigenDA, and Avail, and its alpha mainnet launched using EigenDA. As with most young rollups, SOON operates with centralized "training wheels" in its early phase, meaning components such as the sequencer are operated by the team, with decentralization framed as a roadmap goal rather than a current property. Anyone evaluating the network should treat these operational details as things to verify against the current documentation.

The SOON token has an initial supply of one billion, and the project's tokenomics include a stated 3% annual inflation, so there is no fixed maximum supply. Announced allocations put the largest share with the community, followed by an ecosystem allocation, with smaller portions for the team and cobuilders, an airdrop and liquidity, and a foundation or treasury reserve. Validators stake SOON to help secure the network and earn staking rewards funded in part by that inflation. Because only a fraction of the total supply circulated at launch, the market capitalization and fully diluted valuation can differ substantially, and future unlocks add supply over time.

SOON was built by a team led by co-founder and CEO Joanna Zeng, whose background includes business development roles at Coinbase, Optimism, and Aleo, with other team members drawn from Coinbase, OP Labs, AWS, and Aleo. Ahead of mainnet the project raised a reported $22 million through an NFT mint called "COMMing SOON," with participation from investors including Hack VC, ABCDE, Hypersphere, and SNZ Capital. SOON is a new project, and like any early-stage rollup with a low initial float and an inflationary token, it carries meaningful execution, competition, and volatility risk.

Getting Started With SOON

Because SOON runs the SVM, using it looks a lot like using Solana: you connect an SVM-compatible wallet and bridge assets onto the network.

  1. Step 1: Set up an SVM (Solana-compatible) wallet such as Phantom or Backpack.
  2. Step 2: Bridge assets onto SOON Mainnet using the official SOON bridge.
  3. Step 3: Add the SOON network to your wallet, then use SOON applications and swap for the SOON token on a SOON DEX if you want to hold it.
  4. Step 4: Explore the SOON ecosystem and, for larger holdings, secure your assets with a hardware wallet.

How to Get a SOON Wallet?

SOON uses the Solana Virtual Machine, so wallets that support Solana and can be pointed at SOON's network work well.

Phantom

Phantom is a widely used Solana wallet available as a browser extension and mobile app. It can be configured to interact with SVM networks and is a common choice for SOON.

Backpack

Backpack is another popular SVM wallet with a focus on the Solana ecosystem, and it can be used to hold assets and connect to SVM applications.

Hardware Wallets

A Ledger device can be paired with an SVM wallet such as Phantom to keep your private keys offline, which is recommended for larger holdings.

How to Buy SOON?

SOON can be bought on centralized exchanges or on decentralized exchanges within its ecosystem.

Centralized Exchanges

SOON is listed on centralized exchanges including Binance and MEXC, typically traded against USDT. Availability and trading pairs vary by exchange and region, so check the current listings before trading.

Decentralized Exchanges

As an SVM token, SOON trades on decentralized exchanges within the SOON ecosystem. Bridge assets onto SOON Mainnet, connect an SVM wallet, and swap into SOON. The token also has representations on EVM chains such as Base and the BNB Smart Chain, where it can trade on those networks' decentralized exchanges.

Latest SOON News

SOON's alpha mainnet and its tokenomics were introduced in January 2025, and the SOON token launched at its token generation event on May 23, 2025, listing on Binance Alpha with a points-based airdrop. Since launch the team has extended the SVM-rollup idea beyond its Ethereum-settled mainnet to other base chains, shipping soonBase on Base and svmBNB on the BNB Smart Chain. As a young network, SOON's market capitalization has been reported in the tens of millions of dollars, roughly in the $55 million to $90 million range depending on the source and the day. The token reached an all-time high above 5 dollars in November 2025 and has since fallen roughly 95 percent, a reminder that early-stage, low-float tokens can move very quickly.

The takeaway: SOON is an ambitious attempt to make the Solana Virtual Machine portable, running it as a decoupled execution layer inside rollups that settle on Ethereum and other chains. Its team has strong Layer 2 and Solana pedigree, but the network is new, still carries the centralized components typical of early rollups, and its token is inflationary with a large share of supply yet to unlock. For the current state of the network, its decentralization progress, and token details, the official website, documentation, and blog are the best sources.
